Role models and walls...

Every week the world loses someone famous. Someone who has been a lead in whatever field they have followed. Whether it be actor, entertainer, musician, scientist - the list is endless. But the biggest loss any of us can encounter is the loss of a loved one. We carry them with us, floating in our tears of grief, but also in the warmth of our memories.

It can be so hard to think someone can be there and gone the next, but it is something that we will all have to deal with at some point in our lives; before we in-turn move on in our own mortal journey.

There is no right or wrong way to feel when you lose someone. And nobody has the right to tell you how to feel, or how to process it. Everybody deals with it differently, but the really important thing to remember is that everyone deals with it. It can feel like breathing in pain, and exhaling tears. It can be suffocating or it can be with a feeling of pure gratitude for having known, liked, loved the one who has gone.

Sometimes it can be really tough just trying to see a way around the grief, like it is the tallest wall with the deepest foundations. Seemingly impossible one day, but on another you can see the top. On others still you will be able to peer over and see that life is there to be lived, and to keep that person alive by keeping them with you as you climb over the top to continue making memories. Bringing them every step of the way, always in your heart and always in your mind.

Then there will be the times when you want to know how to fill the void. Who’ll be my role model, now that my role model is gone? It’s simple, you become the next role model. Each and every one of us is simply irreplaceable. You become the one who will be talked of fondly, reminisced about and held so dearly.

Always remember; nobody ever really dies until their memory does. As for me, I am going to live forever...
