Path of Least Resistance...

Yesterday as I was sat at my dining table working there come on an extremely heavy rain shower followed by thunder and lightning. Storms have always fascinated me, especially lightening. The way it will illuminate the sky for a split second or branches across the sky and down to the ground, always finding the path of least resistance.

The thing is, whilst it is brilliant and it shines so bright for that very split second, it finds its exit strategy just as quickly as it comes. The bright light and raw power so quickly extinguished.

This made me think about life and how we approach situations we face along the way. We can either come out all guns blazing and yet we get switched off quickly, because this fast and ready approach for the path of least resistance will not always bring about what is best for you, or for the situation you are currently faced with.

Ever heard of the saying ‘softly softly, catchy monkey’?

This, to me, is the approach to any given situation that I believe gives the greatest reward. It gives us the opportunity to evaluate, and re-evaluate with each step. It ensures we can reach our target without the risk of losing it through rash or harsh decisions. It gives us the most reward as we can reap our harvest because we don’t miss a single thing as we reach the pinnacle of our achievement. Everything in life is worth waiting for, if you need to.

Even if you think back to when you were a child. How many times were we rewarded with something simple like some sweets? The funny thing is with the innocence of childhood we were more focused on the prize. So what’s different now? What tempts us to take the easy way out and risk not getting what we set out to achieve? How many have given up on something because it’s just easier that way?

If something/anything is truly worth having, it’s worth every effort you can give to get it.

The path of least resistance may be the easiest, but will it be the most rewarding...?
