As I Began…

One of the things that can be incredibly difficult to do is to accept yourself and to love yourself in the skin you are in. The self doubt for many starts as teenagers as we feel awkward and we are ‘growing up’. The often bashfulness or shyness as we become who we start to become as an adult.

The thing to remember is no matter how old you are, there is absolutely nothing stopping you from becoming you, the real you. The one that feels most comfortable in their own skin.

It all starts with something very important; the moment you start to begin to love yourself.

Ok, so for the point of clarity, this isn’t about vanity. Not now, not ever. Right now there is way too much vanity in the world, and if anything - it’s just plain ugly. There is nothing beautiful, attractive, or appealing about vanity.

When you start to love yourself, you will start to appreciate who you are. Who you really are, not just because someone wants you to be that way, instead just by being you. Having the courage and conviction to be you, for you, and not care. That in itself will make it a whole lot easier and make the journey of being able to love yourself a whole lot more accessible. Why? That’s the easy bit, because your true beauty shines from within. It radiates. This is the kind of stuff that very few people spot in another, but when you do it will blow you away, because true beauty is what makes you who you really are. Nothing fake, nothing forced. Just you in the very essence of you.

It is when that journey of acceptance kicks in. When you can look in a mirror and smile, but see a reflection that makes you smile back.

It all begins with allowing yourself to see it, and from that moment on, you’ll realise it’s when it all began.

As I began to love myself…
