Do you ever get the feeling like you’re running round in circles and yet somehow managing to be everywhere and nowhere all at once? There can those times where we are manically busy, and pushing ourselves continuously, but at the same time wondering why and what for. Those times when you perhaps don’t feel that anyone notices. Maybe because you give your all, all the time and it kind of just is ‘what you do’ or ‘who you are’. Sound familiar?
The thing is, someone will always notice. Someone will always see the brightness you bring and the way you shine in what is just the every day to someone else.
I think it’s important to look out for the inner shine, especially to recognise something in someone they don’t see themselves. This should be celebrated and encouraged to break through. If nothing else, it gives a sense of well-being. It can be enough to make someone’s day, just a simple act of recognition can make a huge difference. Though best of all is when it happens without a fuss. That way it means more.
There is nothing more frustrating than seeing people carry out ‘random acts of kindness’ but only in front of an audience. When it’s like that, it isn’t kindness, it’s essentially paying someone for your own recognition. That, by default, makes it worthless and devalues the person at the receiving end. That isn’t recognising someone’s inner shine.
Be kind, recognise, and do it with humility so that it is done with sincerity. Sincerity is what makes the difference. Sincerity is what brings the biggest value. It’s about letting someone see they can light up a room just by being themselves.
