Life’s Rich Tapestry…

Do you know what a foreign accent is? It’s a sign of bravery.

Any accent that is different to local dialect is a sign of someone, who for whatever reason, has made a significant move to be somewhere ‘different’. I know what it is like, because I have done it. My accent stands out where I live, because my Northern Irish lilt is different to the Hampshire accents I am surrounded by.

To the same extent there are many more accents here that are different. I love to hear them. I enjoy listening to the the variations and the annunciations of those who are from a little further afield than I. Instead of seeing them as standing out for being ‘different’, what if we looked on it in a similar way to birdsong? If you’re awake in the early morning, you will hear a multitude of birds singing and bringing in the day. Together it is a symphony and it’s beautiful. But it’s important to remember it’s the mixture that makes it work.

It’s the same as life. It’s the differences that make it beautiful. When we accept what’s different around us, we see the real beauty of the world.

Don’t judge, don’t discriminate, don’t think that anyone isn’t ‘as good’ just because they’re not from the same place as you. Anyone who believes they are, are really nothing. These people cause the divides that lead to many of the wrongs in society. Intolerance and ignorance lead to nothing only harm. It’s the differences that weave us into life’s rich tapestry. Everyone of us is a stitch, and when we all come together we make the big picture. You make it beautiful.

We need all the different stitches to make it whole, and it unites us in something special. Everyone of us is the infinite detail.

Everybody here, comes from somewhere…
