Time Is Not Linear…

Ever wonder how time seems to pass so quickly as we get older? Sometimes this is a good thing, but at other times it’s not so much.

I don’t consider myself old, but I’ve become acutely aware that time seems to be passing quicker than it ever has before. Not just in the usual way in that we sometimes find it hard to believe our children are as old as they are, or you’ve been in a job for a period of time. But instead, just the every day. You know, when the weeks go by, and the weekends disappear in the blink of an eye. When we seem to have no time to do everything we want, because time itself seems to erode itself.

I have come to the conclusion that this is easy to explain/reason: Time is not linear.

To prove this chain of thought, when you are 5yrs old the time between your birthdays is only evaluated from experience, hence only 5yrs of your life. Therefore it seems to take forever before your next party and blowing out the candles on your cake. However, if for example you are 50th’s old, it is based on fractions of 50 years experience, which is why your birthdays seem to come around quicker than ever, and almost to the point of surprise. You remember more, and the memories themselves are testament to how quickly that time has gone by.

So for any day we feel that will never end, so not worry, do not fret - it too will pass. For some in what may seem like an eon, for others in the blink of an eye. They say time flies when you’re having fun, the reality is it goes by irrespective. It flies when we don’t realise.

Remember; Time flies like an arrow, fruit flies like a banana… 😉
