Just Like A Barometer…

Some days we feel everything. Actually, for the purposes of clarity, we feel everything every day. Yet, there are just some days where every single minute of the day lingers with a heaviness that seems exhausting.

Some days just hang heavy, and we kind of drift from dawn to dusk and fall to sleep as a welcome reprise.

It’s ok to have these days. These days are what shows you that you’re only human after all. Some days we are left just questioning life, and what has brought us to this very moment. I guess the thing is we are here. As tough as anything has been up to now - we are here.

You might find yourself getting lost in a daydream. Not the kind where you picture all kinds of happiness, but the ones where you find yourself absent from your mind. Just a momentary lapse of awareness. However, the drifting you feel can just be a few seconds or sometimes minutes. It’s ok to feel that. It’s ok, because it’s how we sometimes regain focus and the clarity that comes from it can be refreshing. In a way it’s like meditating. You allow your mind to drift, but when you come out of the meditation, you feel relaxed, refocused and ready.

As Regina Brett once said: “No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up”. The very act of doing this will bring you a slice of life that you wouldn’t have had otherwise. Yes, some days the slice may be a little smaller than others, but always bigger than none. By showing up to life, we are taking it on, head on. It doesn’t matter how strong or brave you feel in the morning, but showing up means that you’ve already won the battle for that day. For every battle we win, we have more peace. That is something that we shouldn’t forget within our hearts and minds.

But just like the dial on a barometer, it will change and there will be sunshine again.

Don’t give up, and don’t give in…
