Be an ally to those who need it. To those who don’t know it, and to those who those who are trying so very hard.
We all need allies. Never turn down the opportunity to be someone’s ally, or reject those who reach out to be an ally to you.
To be successful in this, we must listen. Not just with our ears, but with our soul. Only then can you connect on a level where there is no judgement, no pretence, no conditions. Just being yourself in the most open and honest way you can. This is when someone who is in need of you will see you as everything you are rather than everything they perceive you to be. There can be a marked difference between the two, and the significance of this is huge. Why? Because when they see you as everything you are, there is vulnerability and honesty in you that will shine like a beacon of hope. For that is exactly what you are. Hope.
Hope is all we can ever want. Hope is what makes us wake up each day, because no matter what you are experiencing at that very moment in your journey through life - hope is what spurs us on to love through it. It gives us strength, and it is so much easier when we have an ally.
Be an ally, but remember ‘ally’ is a verb, so you’re going to have to do the work.
When someone is at their lowest ebb, remind them that every storm runs out of rain.
Speak up, but never over.
