Don’t Forget Your Tag Line…

What is your favourite advert of all time, and why?

The power of advertising is merely a simple message that is believable. In essence it’s an affirmation - of sorts. If you think about some of the most memorable adverts and generally there’s been a tag line that’s been like a hook. Most of them will have had something positive tied in to them, so you automatically have a positive association with the brand.

This got me thinking, not just about lots of random adverts from way back when, but of how that positive association works and more importantly how we can get it to work for ourselves in everyday life.

I suppose the best place to start is to think about one thing about you or your life right now that you really like. Something that gives you a good feeling, and then consider that a partial branding of what makes you ‘you’. From this we then get to build our brand. You can be your own ‘focus group’ and trial out different ideas and see which makes you feel the most positive about you and how your life is right at this very moment.

Use that as a personalised affirmation. Something that no matter what sort of day you are having, reminding yourself of that association will bring you round and keep you grounded on the happiness you have from whatever it is.

If you were an advert, would you buy you?

We all have happiness somewhere. Sometimes we just needed reminded of it - and it’s ourselves that need to do the reminding!

Oh, and don’t forget your tag line…
