Wait and See..

How many times growing up, or in your adult life have you heard the expression “Patience is a virtue”? There are undoubtably countless times when this has also been followed up with “Good things come to those who wait”. Even just “Wait and see”.

I guess the truth is we all need a reminder that, at times, patience is so very important. It is a leveller and can act as a teacher too. For many of us it can be having to wait for something, either because we need to save for it, or we just have to wait for it to be the right time.

Irrespective of which, having to embody patience is incredibly important in developing us into who we are. Sometimes having to wait is a great way of making us appreciate what we have already, but more so what we are going to receive. It helps us with respect of what/who we are waiting for.

If you think back to the very first thing you bought with your own money. Something you saved for and the excitement of being able to know that it was yours, only for the grace of your patience. How good did it feel. For me, mine was a second hand mountain bike purchased from a friend. It wasn’t the best bike, or in the best condition, but it was mine and I had earned it.

Another great example of this is those of us brave enough to start up their own business venture. Something that requires a lot of patience, a lot of bravery and a lot of self belief. I know several people who have done so, and am inspired by them. One group of friends who started an online prize company only to be instantly hit with a global pandemic shortly after launching. But watched their perseverance through what can only be described as very turbulent times. However, patience and self belief has brought them through. Something that should be applauded in these uncertain times.

The same can be said for relationships, either personal or professional. If you want it, you will have the patience and tenacity to get what you want. Even if it can take a little while. But patience is key in getting what is right for you. Don’t sell yourself short just for short term gain. You know what you are worth, and deserve only greater than you think you should settle for.

So, it’s simple really. It just takes a little patience.

Hurry up and wait, for what’s worth waiting for…
