Listen To The Words…

When is the last time you listened to the words as you read?

Sounds bizarre, but I mean when you’ve had a moment where you have become completely absorbed in the words. For me it is when I can picture every detail, and the fragility or intensity of each moment.

Moments like these are honesty personified.

It’s about allowing yourself to become there, it’s about being truly captivated by what is wonderfully written. The complexity is irrelevant. It’s the way it resonates that makes the difference. Sometimes the shortest stories tell the greatest tales.

I believe that reading is a form of recovery.

Recovery takes time, otherwise it wouldn’t have been something to recover from. Healing happens with recovery, and it happens at the speed you need it to. Just like reading happens at different speeds for different people. It doesn’t matter how long it takes, the process is down to you, and the reward is the finding yourself in that moment.

It’s nobody else’s journey, and nobody can measure or judge you on how it happens. It happening is all that matters.

Another way to think of it is when you are absorbed in someone else’s words, you momentarily develop an uncomplicated mind. The complexity of an uncomplicated mind is the focus on individual thoughts evoked from the words as they lay there before you.

And in these words, I am there with you…
